Doctor of Medicine (MD)
The University of British Columbia is ranked amongst the worlds top medical schools. The MD program is distributed amongst 4 sites: Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, & Prince George. I am currently enrolled at the Vancouver campus (Vancouver Fraser Medical Program - VFMP)

The formatting of the UBC MD program involves a "spiral curriculum," meaning weeks are themed and relevant medical concepts are repeated over the course of the pre-clerkship years. The curriculum also involved Case-Based Learning (CBL) session to further reinforce clinically relevant concepts.

As an introduction to clinical practice, the curriculum also engages students by introducing family practice session with clinicians in the community, as well as relevant clinical skills practiced on standardized patients.

Clerkship, which takes places in 3rd and 4th year, involves traditional discipline-based rotations that allows for first hand experience as well as exposure to a variety of specialties and subspecialties.

Clinical Anatomy is a program that is partially course-based and partially thesis based.

Course work focused on human anatomy, both gross and microscopic, in addition to personal development as both a professional and an educator.

My thesis focused on maxillomandibular advancement (MMA) surgery for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Specifically, we are assessing volumetric and tissue-based changes within the pharynx upon an incremental MMA through CT imaging to better understand the mechanism underlying this procedure in the treatment on OSA.
Bachelor of Health Sciences is a program that explores health-related topics through a problem-based learning approach. I predominantly selected courses focused on biological sciences pertaining to the human body, including immunology and pathophysiology.

My thesis was focused anatomical education in the context of identifying mechanisms & modalities that allow for the most effective teaching and learning within the field. This included the discovery that stereoscopic vision is a key underlying mechanism in anatomical education and the objective assessment of the effectiveness of novel Extended Reality systems
